We invited our partners in care, Community Care Hospice, to guest write a blog for us. We were fortunate to have Lacey Buhrle, Clinical Liaison with Community Care Hospice, join us on our podcast to talk with us about the role hospice plays in the nursing home and specifically the unique relationship Pleasant View has with CCH. You can find that episode here.

Community Care Hospice – Lacey Buhrle, Clinical Liaison

Our main goal for patients is comfort. We provide hospice services to in-home patients, as well as patients in care communities. We are a local hospice company co-owned by 13 senior living facilities within Kansas.

Community care serves patients that have a life limiting illness; however hospice services have progressed, and it is not uncommon for patients to graduate from hospice services or remain on hospice services for lengthy periods of time. If a patient’s condition improves, or they decide to leave hospice treatments, they can leave the program and return if there is a need or want.

Hospice services are completely covered by medicare, or medicaid insurance plans. We offer RN(registered nurse) services, hospice aide services, chaplain services, and social worker services. We are not just a support to the patient, but to the patient’s family and friends as well.

Your local hospice team

Sarah Whitenack- Hospice Director/Registered Nurse

“My passion is to lead my team with empathy, compassion, and a strong skill set so that our patients receive the best possible care. I also work directly with patients and families as needed, and pride myself in giving great care”

Lara MacGregor- Chaplain

“As chaplain for Community Care Hospice, I assess and support the spiritual needs of our patients and their families. I also support the spiritual care programs of our facilities through participation in memorial services and other gatherings. Being a pastor for over twenty years has given me a passion for providing a safe place for people to explore questions of spiritual significance. I consider it a gift to be able to share this spiritual journey with those in the end stage of their lives, for whom the spiritual often takes on the weightiest significance. It is a joy to be a part of Community Care Hospice, where I am part of a team of compassionate and skilled individuals who understand and appreciate the importance of the spiritual journey.”

Melissa Keller- RN Case Manager

“Working with Community Care Hospice has provided me with the unique opportunity to build strong connections with patients and families while helping them navigate end of life care. It is very fulfilling to be a part of a team that provides clinical, spiritual, and emotional support to whose we care for. I truly love what we do”

Tessa Duck- Hospice Aide

“I enjoy providing comfort and care to our patients. We are able to help our patients and their families through some difficult times of their lives. Working in hospice can be challenging, but it also gives you a greater appreciation for life.”

Lacey Buhrle- Clinical Liaison

“I am here to be a support between patients, facility staff, and our staff. I truly love this team, and the care we can provide to the people that mean the most, our patients.”

We offer informational meetings, as well are available 24/7 for our patients, or any questions you may have regarding hospice services.
